I live in Uig in the Isle of Lewis. My professional life was in primary school education both as a class teacher and a Head Teacher and my late husband worked as a traditional family doctor. Throughout our careers, our family was fortunate enough to have been able to live and work in the Highlands of Scotland, New Zealand, as well as the Outer Hebrides; and these experiences not only enriched our professional experiences but also deepened our appreciation for different cultures and ways of life.

My birth family has deep roots in the Hebrides with my main gene pool coming from Skye and Lewis. I was raised in a traditional extended west coast family, where the oral tradition was very strong and shared memories and experiences were passed down across generations, vividly connecting the past to the present. I wish that I had listened more!

In addition to being part of community groups and activities, I enjoy having my friends and extended family over from the mainland for holidays. I love reading and researching family ancestry. My mother taught me traditional knitting - an everlasting legacy, and one which I continue to enjoy today. This place I call home is one of great natural beauty, steeped in history, with beautiful beaches and ancient hills, right on the doorstep. I consider myself to be very fortunate and privileged to live here.
