Ionad Hiort | St Kilda Centre

This short film was produced for the participation of Ionad Hiort/ St Kilda Centre in the UNESCO Scotland conference, ‘I Know Where I'm Going: Remote Access to World Heritage Sites from St Kilda to Uluru’ in September 2011, which explored how new media could protect remote world heritage sites, increase public access to remote sites and enhance the economic benefits from tourism. The film was produced by Design is Central, Glasgow.

“St Kilda is the only World Heritage Site in the UK with dual UNESCO status for both its cultural and natural landscape and it is internationally recognised as iconic of islands. The St Kilda Centre will open up new digital media approaches to heritage interpretation and pioneer new forms of remote-access to the benefit of visitors and other heritage sites worldwide. UNESCO Scotland welcomes this celebration of world heritage and a very special place”.
